Volunteering has become a HUGE part of my life
Slippery Rock University Sport Management Program really focuses on volunteering. Through volunteering, I was able to help the individuals in which I volunteered for. I've volunteered for both Pine Richland and Deer Lakes basketball programs. These programs give younger children a chance to participate in basketball and help these kids gain the knowledge and experience through other students' basketball talent. I enjoy teaching little kids the sport of basketball because this sport has been such a huge part of my life and I'm able to teach children something that I love doing and that's priceless.

When I was both a freshman and a sophomore, I volunteered for Special Olympics with the Sport Management Dept. I was able to see how hard these athletes have worked to get to be where they are and nothing is better than watching people do something they love and feel so accomplished about.

I have volunteered for 3 years to be a notetaker for the Office of Disability Services each semester. In this position, I was contacted for taking notes for an individual/individuals in the course who needed to receive notes for the class. I would take my notes to the office located in the University Union of Slippery Rock University, copy them and then the notes would be distributed to the student/students. I have gained about 40 hours of volunteer experience through this volunteer opportunity.

During the start of my sophomore, junior and senior year, I volunteered for the WOW Committee. The Wow Committee (Weekend of Welcome) took place during move in day for upcoming freshman and transfer students who were living in the dorms. What I liked the most about this volunteer opportunity was the fact that I was available to help the incoming students' move into their dorms and calm their nerves about being a first year student or just starting a new semester.
